With Ontario only days away from a historic election, Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford today shared details on the choice that faces voters when they go to the polls on June 7.
Today Doug Ford announced that an Ontario PC government would commit to keeping the Welland hospital open. Specifically, Doug Ford announced a planning grant to identify the important local services residents need at the Welland Hospital.
“It’s time for hallway health care in Ontario to come to an end and closing the Welland hospital would only make things worse. Keeping access to local high quality healthcare in Welland is key for seniors and the 100,000 people who rely on the hospital,” said Ford. “Our PC candidate April Jeffs and our team realize that getting local high quality health care will keep the people of Welland safe and healthy with the highest level of service they deserve.”
April Jeffs is serving her second term as Mayor of the Township of Wainfleet and as a Niagara Regional Councillor.
As Vice-Chair of the Niagara Region’s Budget Committee, she has delivered three low-tax budgets for Niagara residents including a 0% increase in 2016.
April has operated a wedding and portrait photography business for the past 16 years, and understands firsthand the challenges that small business owners face in Niagara Centre.
April serves as a Member on the Board of Directors of the Niagara Children’s Centre, a leading provider of rehabilitation and support services to children and youth with physical and developmental disabilities.
April has served as a past member of Therapy Tails Niagara and St. John Ambulance.
April holds a degree in tourism from Niagara College. In 2008, she was voted Niagara's Favourite Photographer. In 2011, April was a recipient of Niagara’s 40 under 40 Business Achievement Award. In 2013, April a nominee for Women in Business Award by the Women in Niagara Council and Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce.
April is a past member of Toastmasters Internationals, Professional Photographers of Ontario and has volunteered as a coach with the Wainfleet Minor Softball Association.
April was born and raised in Niagara has worked hard to represent her community while raising her two sons Gordy and Thomas.
